Mini Cat Crochet Patterns: Six Tiny Amigurumi Cats

Make a family of six tiny crochet cats with colorwork, little paws, curved tails, and embroidered faces. Includes shared construction and all six color variations.

Six small crochet cats with different coat colors, embroidered noses, and long tails

A tiny cat is a lovely way to explore colorwork on a small scale. This collection uses one compact construction with six different coats: a brown-faced cat, a camel-and-white cat, a tuxedo cat, a gray-and-white cat, a black-and-white patched cat, and a three-color cat.

With the listed materials, the finished height is approximately 9 cm. Work in continuous spirals unless a round says otherwise. The shared gauge is 7 stitches and 7 rows per 2.5 cm / 1 inch; differences in tension can shift the color changes.

Read the review notes first: the source cuts Yarn B immediately before using it again in Cat 1 round 14, repeats round 22 in Cat 3, and labels a late Cat 5 round as “15” between rounds 24 and 26. The affected instructions are retained and flagged. The cats have not been physically test-crocheted for this article.

Materials and abbreviations

  • Scheepjes Catona and/or Yarn and Colors Must-have cotton yarn in the colors listed for each cat; the source specifies one 25 g skein per listed color.
  • A 2.25 mm hook.
  • Two 5 mm safety eyes per cat.
  • A small amount of black embroidery thread, such as Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat. Some variations specifically call for brown thread for the face.
  • Stuffing, a sewing needle, scissors, and pins.
  • Pink or orange blush for the cheeks and nose, if desired.

Color changes: complete the last pull-through of the current stitch with the new color. Secure the tails inside the piece. Keep dark yarn ends behind dark stitches so they do not show through light sections. When a round starts without a color name, continue in the color left active by the previous instruction.

Stuff only where the instructions say to stuff. Arms, legs, and ears have no stuffing instruction in the source.

Color-management note: the source says to fasten off B after round 13, but immediately requires B in round 14. Confirm whether to carry or rejoin B; no unstated joining method is imposed here.

After round 14, insert safety eyes between rounds 10 and 11. Place the first between stitches 14 and 15, and the second between stitches 20 and 21. This eye placement is shared by all six cats. If using embroidered or glued eyes, the source defers positioning until the end so they can be aligned with the body’s color changes.

Begin stuffing after round 14 and continue as you work. Finish stuffing, fasten off, close the remaining stitches, and weave in the ends.

Shared face and finishing details

Embroider the nose between the eyes at rounds 11–12, then add whiskers beneath each eye. For Cat 1 use black thread. Embroider the navel in Yarn B at the center front of round 23. Add blush to the cheeks and nose if desired.

Arms — make two

Start with B: round 1, 6 sc in a magic ring [6]; round 2, (inc, 2 sc) × 2 [8]. Change to A at the end of round 2 and fasten off B. Round 3: sc in each stitch [8]. Fasten off with a long sewing tail.

Finish and stuff as for Cat 1. Use the shared eye placement and black thread for the nose and whiskers. Embroider the navel with B on round 23 and add blush if desired.

Arms: follow Cat 1, all in A. Legs: follow Cat 1, making one entirely in A and one entirely in B. Ears and tail: follow Cat 1 with this cat’s A/B colors. Assembly is unchanged.

Cat 3 — black and white tuxedo

Use Catona 110 Black and 105 White. Begin with black. For rounds 1–17 follow Cat 2, treating B as black and A as white.

Fasten off white and continue in black.

Repeated-round note: after the explicit colorwork round 22, the source says to follow Cat 1 rounds 22–28. Repeating Cat 1’s increase round 22 would conflict with the already completed 30-stitch round. Clarify this overlap before continuing; the supplied range is not silently changed to 23–28.

Finish stuffing, close the opening, and use brown thread for the nose and whiskers. Add blush as desired. For arms, legs, ears, tail, and assembly, follow Cat 1 with A = black, B = white. This component mapping differs from the A/B mapping used for the head; keep the two mappings separate.

Cat 4 — gray and white

Use Catona 254 Moon Rock (gray) and 105 Bridal White. Begin the head and body in gray. Work Cat 1 rounds 1–6 in gray.

The Cat 3 round-22 overlap also affects this inherited instruction and requires clarification. Follow the shared eye placement; use brown thread for the face and optional blush. Make ears as for Cat 1 in gray. Make arms, legs, and tail as for Cat 1 with A = gray, B = white. Assemble as for Cat 1.

Round-label note: the line between rounds 24 and 26 is labeled “Rnd 15” in the source. Its first segment also omits the stitch abbreviation after “17”; rounds 23–24 omit it after “16.” The listed totals are retained, but the missing label/stitch notation should be confirmed rather than treated as a verified correction.

Finish stuffing and close the opening. Use brown thread for the nose and whiskers and optional blush. Make Cat 1 ears, one in A and one in B. Arms and legs follow Cat 1, all in A. Tail and assembly follow Cat 1 with this cat’s A/B colors.

The inherited Cat 5 round-label note applies here as well. Use the shared eye placement, brown thread for the nose and whiskers, and optional blush. Make Cat 1 ears with one in B and one in C. Make arms and legs all in A. Make the Cat 1 tail using C (black) for the starting/tip color and A (white) for the remaining tail. Assembly follows Cat 1.

Final check

Remove pins, check the sewing and yarn ends, and compare eye placement across the face. Before crocheting a variation affected by a source note, resolve the relevant color or round instruction. The written instructions and photographs are preserved as reference, not presented as a corrected or independently tested design.
